CloverCat's Toys

Clover's taste in toys has changed as she's grown but I'd like to share some of her favorites. When she was a kitten she had two favorite toys, both involved teasing the good natured dog Gypsie The first  toy was Gypsies tail. Not only did she pounce on it anytime it wagged she also loved to grab onto it and ride around the house attached. The dog would come to me with the most woeful look, hoping just once I'd help her get the cat off her tail...... I'm afraid I couldn't stop laughing long enough to help, and soon the kitten Clover would be off and running. Clover's second favorite toy was Gypsies Daily Growl. The newspaper toy was perfect kitten size and she'd cover herself over the Daily Growl challenging the dog to retrieve it form her. This game was  hard on  poor Gypsie who couldn't go anywhere without the latest addition of the Daily Growl.  Her nose was starting to show battle scars when I decided it was time to get Clover her own cat toys. We tried many different types, sizes, shapes and sounds and the list below what Clover keeps in her toychest.
   Clover loves to grab onto things (mostly people arms) and kick as hard as possible. To curb this painful (for me) game we made her a "kicky sock". It's simply an old sock filled with catnip and tied at the top. When Clover gets that tiger look in her eyes I run for the sock, rub it to freshen up the catnip smell and wave it front of   her. She'll grab it, roll over and kick the stuffing out of it, forgetting she ever wanted to rip my arm off.
    Clover has a small army of felt/wool/fur mice. She prefers her mice small so she can pick them up with her claws, toss them and run after them. I keep a few stashed in a jar of catnip, every few weeks I exchange mice, so she gets a fragrant toy, steeped in a catnip smell. She goes wild!
   Clover has a three inch long ferret toy that rattles. Clover has adopted this as one of her own and when she's ready to curl up on her favorite burlap bed under her heat lamp, she'll clean the ferrets tail till it's spotless.
   All in all Clover loves her toys even as she get older she finds a little energy now and again for a good game of mouse.
